  • 2 pieces ripe bananas, mashed Use very ripe, blackened bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional) Add if you prefer extra chocolate.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar For sprinkling on top.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon For sprinkling on top.
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces For dotting on top.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mash the bananas. Add the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Stir in the milk and chocolate chips if you’re feeling extra decadent.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  6. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon, sprinkle that over the batter, and dot with butter pieces.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs.
  2. Cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely.
Serving
  1. Slice into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days. For longer storage, refrigerate up to a week. Reheat for a few seconds in the microwave for a gooey texture.
