Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture, and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft.
  3. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle with chocolate sauce. Store in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months. Underbake slightly for a gooey texture and consider mix-ins like nuts or peanut butter chips.
