Ingredients
  

For the chai infusion
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 small piece fresh ginger (sliced) Fresh ginger enhances flavor.
  • 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 whole cardamom pods Adjust for sweetness.
  • 4-5 whole cloves
For the chai mix
  • 2 tablespoons black tea leaves or 2 black tea bags
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 2 cups milk (or non-dairy alternative) Choose based on preference.

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine water, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and ginger. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the black tea and sugar, letting it steep for another 5 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into another saucepan to remove the spices and tea leaves.
  5. Stir in the milk and heat until steaming (do not boil).
  6. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade chai tea latte.

Notes

Store in the fridge for about 3 days and reheat slowly over low heat to avoid curdling the milk. Fresh ginger and spices yield the best flavors. Feel free to add vanilla or nutmeg for variety.
