Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
- Stir in the hot coffee until well combined. Get ready for a thin batter!
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, then add milk and remaining vanilla extract until reaching your desired consistency.
- Once the cakes are cool, spread frosting between the layers and on top and sides of the cake.
Notes
Store the cake in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months. Let thaw in the fridge overnight before enjoying again.
