Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the sour cream, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
Mixing
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with coffee or ice cream. Store wrapped tightly at room temperature for about 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze for longer storage.
