Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, water, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
- Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, spreading it out evenly. Do not swirl it; we want that luscious gooey layer intact!
Baking
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the edges are set, but the center remains delightfully gooey.
Serving
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Store in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds.
