  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs Use room temperature for best results.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened Dairy-free cream cheese can be used for variation.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, water, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add the chocolate chips and vanilla extract.
  5. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter, spreading it out evenly. Do not swirl it; we want that luscious gooey layer intact!
Baking
