  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed Make sure it's thawed before use.
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened Use room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference.
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash) Gives a golden color upon baking.
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, cranberry sauce, orange zest, and sugar until smooth.
  4. Cut the pastry into strips, about 1 inch wide.
  5. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture on one end of each strip.
  6. Fold the pastry over to encase the filling and press the edges to seal.
  7. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Let cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm.

For best results, let the pastry cool slightly before serving. These straws can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for longer storage.
