Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats Rinsed under cold water
  • 4 cups water Used for blending
  • 1-2 tablespoons sweetener (optional) Such as maple syrup or agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional) Adds flavor
  • a pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse the rolled oats under cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. In a blender, combine the rinsed oats, water, sweetener, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Blend on high for about 30 seconds until well combined.
Straining
  1. Strain the mixture using a nut milk bag, fine mesh strainer, or cheesecloth to separate the oat milk from the pulp.
Storage
  1. Store the oat milk in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
  2. Shake before using.

Notes

Blend time: Don't over-blend! About 30 seconds is perfect for the right texture. Try different sweeteners like honey or add cocoa powder for a chocolatey twist. If you prefer a smoother texture, strain twice or use a nut milk bag. For creamier consistency, add less water.
