Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Overripe bananas are recommended for sweetness.
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Honey can be substituted with maple syrup for a vegan option.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour Almond flour can be used for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Other spices like nutmeg or allspice can be added for extra flavor.
Mix-ins (Optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips Choose based on your preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. Add the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
Mixing Dry Ingredients
  1. In another bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
Combining
  1. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  2. If you're feeling adventurous, fold in walnuts or chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  2. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

Slice and serve warm, perhaps with Greek yogurt, honey, or fresh berries. Storage: Wrap tightly and keep in the fridge for 4-5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
