Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Stir in the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
- If desired, fold in nuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
- Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
This banana bread keeps well in the fridge for about 5–7 days. Freeze individual slices for longer storage.
