Ingredients
  

For the banana bread
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas Use overripe bananas for extra sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup You can switch to agave or stevia if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour Can substitute with all-purpose flour.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) Add for extra flavor.
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
  3. Stir in the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. If desired, fold in nuts or chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

This banana bread keeps well in the fridge for about 5–7 days. Freeze individual slices for longer storage.
