  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Use the ripest berries for the best flavor.
Dairy
  • 1 cup heavy cream Chill your mixing bowl for best results.
  • 1 cup milk
Sugars
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar Divided into 1/4 cup for strawberries and 1/2 cup for cream mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies Can be swapped for crushed chocolate chip cookies or added Nutella for variation.

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the strawberries and 1/4 cup of the sugar. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to macerate.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, milk, remaining sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Fold in the macerated strawberries and crushed Oreo cookies into the cream mixture.
Churning
  1. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freezing
  1. Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.

Notes

Your homemade ice cream can chill in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. Keep it covered to avoid freezer burn. For an adventurous twist, try using different cookies or making it vegan with coconut milk.
